About Me

Peter Sim Som is a Cambodian American, Gay, and Buddhist writer and actor eager to increase representation for minorities and unheard voices. Since Peter was a child, he has always been performing and, perhaps, stealing the karaoke microphone from his two sisters. With years in the musical arts, Peter has been in countless rooms where he was the only person of color, auditioning for shows that excluded minorities like himself. After witnessing the impact film and television had on representation, Peter pivoted his work to writing scripts and stories that included minorities in the plot lines.

Peter recently graduated from Columbia College Chicago with a BFA in Television Writing and Business. He is currently based in LA and is a West Coast Page at NBCUniversal, where he’ll develop his entertainment industry skills through the rotational program. Peter also continues to stretch his performance skills. He stars in a queer coming-of-age short film titled, Skin Can Breathe (on HBO Max) and leads an upcoming horror-thriller short called, Urge. At the same time, Peter consistently writes stories of various genres with a common thread of love, found family, and healing past traumas. Through his career and work, Peter Sim Som strives to expand representation so that no one feels the same exclusion that his inner, young performer felt.
